MPs seeking police inquiry over ‘pre-signed’ abortion forms

According to various reports a cross-party group of MPs has written to the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police demanding a criminal investigation into evidence that dozens of doctors pre-signed abortion forms without knowing anything about the women concerned.

Eleven MPs are supporting the call for a Scotland Yard inquiry after the General Medical Council, the doctors’ regulator, ruled out action against 67 physicians found to have been involved.

The GMC said the practice was “wrong” and that it has ordered the doctors to “obey the law” but nevertheless decided against bringing fitness to practise hearings saying that what they had done was “common practice”.

The MPs are believed to  include the Conservatives Therese Coffey and Mark Hoban and Labour’s Jim Dobbin wrote to Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, the Commissioner, on Monday asking for an investigation into “the alleged criminal activity of 67 doctors”.

Others who added their signatures include Dr Liam Fox, the Tory former Defence Secretary and Frank Field, the Labour former Work and Pensions Secretary. The Conservatives Jeremy Lefroy, David Burrowes, Fiona Bruce, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Julian Brazier and Labour’s Robert Flello also signed.

It strikes me that the GMC appears to havedifferent standards for pro-abortion doctors and those Christian doctors who might pray with, or promise to pray for, their patients. Is it that the latter is not “common practice”……….yet?

  1. The GMC seems to have different standards, similarly to the way Bishops have different standards for “liberals” and “traditionalists”.

I have given up being surprised.

    God bless!
