Pope Francis makes Curial nominations for Education, APSA

31/03/2015 12:21
(Vatican Radio)  Pope Francis has named the former President
of the Prefecture for Economic Affairs of the Holy See,
Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi, the new Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
The Congregation for Catholic Education is responsible for houses
of formation of religious and secular institutes;
universities, faculties, institutes and higher schools
of study, either ecclesial or civil dependent on ecclesial persons;
and schools and educational institutes depending on ecclesiastical authorities. In addition,
the Holy Father named Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki, Archbishop of Cologne, Germany as a new Member of APSA, the Administration of the Patrimony of the Apostolic See.APSA is the office of the Roman Curia that administers “the properties owned by the Holy See in order to provide the funds necessary for the Roman Curia to function”  (Pastor Bonus, 172 as revised by the 8 July 2014 motu proprio of Pope Francis on the transfer of what had been the Administration’s Ordinary Section to the Secretariat for the Economy). My Comment:  Cardinal Versalsdi’s appointment
as Prefect
of the Congregation for Catholic Education
is an interesting and difficult one.  It is like being handed a poisoned chalice
at a time when so many bishops just accept the rubbish and heresy contained

in so many so-called Catechetical  books and allow them to be used in schools.

Too many bishops appear not to actually know the Catholic Faith.

I wonder how much time Cardinal  Versaldi will be able to devote to the task.

He will continue, apparently as President of

the Pontifical Work for Ecclesiastical Vocations,
Patron of the PontificalSuperior Institute of Latinità
Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies
Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology
Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music
Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Gregorian University

All this while he already was, and continues to be a
Member of the College for the review of appeals by clergy accused
of delicta graviora
Pontifical Delegate for the Congregation of the Sons
of the Immaculate Conception
The cardinal is a
member of the Congregation for Bishops,
the Congregation for Institutes of
Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life,
 and the Supreme Tribunal of
the Apostolic Signatura.
Please pray for him.

Responsibility for Seminaries will continue under
the Congregation for the Clergy
which as one seminary professor told me IS EASILY DECEIVED.
He usually omitted from the list that he
had to submit any books not approved of by Holy See
while he continued to use them in class lectures!
The Professor was the Moral Theology Professor in his seminary.
